Speed Agility Quickness 101 or Team Training
Understanding the specific developmental needs of an athlete is crucial to enhancing their overall athletic capabilities. One of the major components for improving this is the development of speed, agility, and quickness (SAQ).
The ability to change speed and direction of movement and appropriately react to all given stimuli is often the difference between injury and safety or success. Improving speed, change of direction and reaction time is possible through proper training strategies known as SAQ training. Developing SAQ is an imperative piece of the overall goals associated with performance enhancement. Therefore, it is important for the fitness professional to fully understand how to obtain appropriate SAQ adaptations for the athlete. Speed
The rate of performance of an activity, such as a movement or action. More simply, how fast can you do something. In athletics, if you can do something faster than your opponent, you will be successful
Agility
The ability to change direction or position of the body due to an outside stimulus without losing speed. Athletes need to be able to effectively respond to visual, auditory, and tactile cues in order to manipulate the body or an object. Adjusting the direction or position of the body with minimal to no reduction in overall speed of execution will provide an advantage to the athlete.
Quickness
The ability to execute a movement skill in a brief amount of time. Athletes who are better able to perform skills in a shorter amount of time will be provided an advantage over their counterparts during competition.

A landmine exercise refers to an angled barbell movement where one end of the barbell is on the ground and the opposite end is held by the lifter. Most gyms have a landmine machine, which is a metal tube built on a pivot system that can move in any direction.
The major point of difference the landmine has over dumbbell or barbell exercises is the unique angle and arching movement pattern, providing both a vertical and horizontal push combination. Landmine exercises can easily be made more challenging by increasing the weight, and are also a safe way to perform progression exercises due to its point of contact with the ground.
